Have you ever had a pregnant student in your regular yoga class and second-guessed if the asana you are instructing needs further modification? Have you ever wondered WHY certain modifications are suggested, and how they protect and nurture the pregnant body?

This workshop is designed for yoga teachers without prenatal certification who want to learn more about the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, and what every yoga teacher should know to offer informed, safe yoga instruction for pregnant students who attend general population classes.

We will go well beyond the information covered in your basic training to shed light on the most common questions yoga teachers want to know for teaching to this population. This includes a comprehensive review of anatomy and physiology of pregnancy as well as practice and guidelines for safely including pregnant women in a regular class. We will discuss modifications (for all trimesters), and common pregnancy issues that yoga teachers are often surprised they did not know about.

Who Should Attend:

  • All yoga teachers and yoga teacher trainees without prenatal yoga certification who want more information on how to safely instruct pregnant women in regular yoga classes. (Note: Completion of this workshop is not a certification to teach prenatal yoga.)

  • Yoga teachers considering prenatal yoga certification who want to get some basics about what teaching yoga for pregnant students is all about.

  • Male yoga teachers welcome and encouraged to attend.

My 200 hour training touched on modifying for prenatal students, but I was never completely confident when a pregnant student came to class. This workshop provided so much insight, not only about modifying poses, but about what questions to ask and what poses to avoid. I wish I had taken this workshop years ago!

“I not only learned more than I expected, I gained a deeper awareness and ability to modify for pregnancy. As a yoga teacher, the first priority should be to cause no harm. Completely recommend this workshop to all yoga teachers”
